Haute Event Alert: Freedom Ain’t Free Sale at Stag

To put it simply, if I were a guy I would shop at Stag.  Heck!  I’m a chick and I still love going in there!  I recently went on a menswear boutique crawl with the fabulous Cesar Torres and Stag was our first stop.  I am working on a post about our fun-filled fashion frolicking but for now just believe me when I tell you…GO THERE.

What better time to introduce yourself to all that Stag has to offer than during their “Freedom Ain’t Free” flea market & sale this Friday?  Man, woman, and even child can find something there to tickle their fancy.  Let freedom ring in a good deal for you!

Haute Event Alert: Peacock Plume Sip & Shop

Attention ladies of Austin!  Peacock Plume, an online boutique started by local fashionistas Holly and Cara, is having a Sip & Shop event this Thursday, July 1st.  The girls are opening the doors to their office space to allow locals the special opportunity to touch, feel, and buy items normally only sold through their online store.  Oh, and did I mention that you won’t have to pay shipping?

I had the pleasure of visiting the Plume office last week to interview Holly and Cara, where I had a blast playing dress up with their fabulous offerings.  Look for my post with the interview later on this week, complete with pics of some of the goods.  Nothing is priced over $65 so I was in shopping heaven (yes, I did make a purchase…or two).

I’ll be there Thursday so come out and join me!  There will be drinks to sip on as you shop the racks of moderately priced dresses, tops, and skirts.  Not to mention they have fab accessories, shoes, and handbags.

Peacock Plume Sip & Shop
5555 North Lamar, Suite C110
Austin, TX  78751
5:30pm – 8:00pm

(The office is in a business park just behind the Goodwill at the intersection of Koehnig and Lamar)

What a Weekend!

Hi Hauteness readers!  Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.  My mom was in town so I spent the weekend entertaining and well….eating!

Due to a busy weekend and an even busier week ahead, I may be a little light on posting this last week of June.  Between great events here in Austin and planning my upcoming girls 4th of July weekend, I am afraid my blogging time will be slim.

I’ll be back full force next week though.  In the meantime, enjoy these pics from my fun summer weekend.

My friend Carly, whom I met our first day at UT

Carly and I having happy hour Friday night at the Four Seasons bar

Friday was my friend Kelsey's birthday and she somehow managed to find Cowboys plasticware for her party. Can you tell she is a fan?

Me, Mom, and my brother Will at the Salt Lick

Mmmmmm BBQ!

LOVE this barrel chair my bro's roommate has! It was originally purchased by her aunt from a Sears catalog. Go figure!

Fashion Tip Friday: The Importance of Grooming Your Nails

This is a pretty simple, and I believe obvious, fashion tip.  Have you ever been in the middle of a conversation with someone only to be distracted by their hands and/or feet because they do not maintain manicure/pedicure?  I know I have.

Now that it’s summertime, it’s all the more important that women AND men step up their grooming measures when it comes to their nails.  While I rarely pay to have a professional give me a mani/pedi, my toenails are always neatly painted and my fingernails are always trimmed and filed.  This is a very important grooming standard for me because I believe it is the cherry on top of my polished appearance.

How does it look for a woman to go out in a sexy cocktail dress with strappy sandals and chipped polish on her toes?  How about when a man wears a nice pair of linen pants with leather sandals and toenails that look as if they have not seen a pair of clippers in God knows how long?

I’m not trying to sound like a snob, but I do judge people on these small details of appearance.  It gives a wrong [dirty] impression when you don’t groom yourself in this area.

So please, be conscientious of maintaining those nails…it’s a detail that adds so much to your stylish appearance.

To make my point I literally took a picture of my nails as I wrote this post. Filed and manicured...no polish b/c it chips too quickly on my hands.
